| I believe the choices to have an abortion, have a child, or start a family occur within the privacy guaranteed by the Montana Constitution, and generally must be exercised freely in a country founded on liberty. This is an intimate area where the government has no place. I also believe this is a cultural issue that should be addressed in homes, churches, and other organizations- not in the political arena, where it often hamstrings public process. | |||

| The ability to have increases in these areas depends of course on sufficient revenues. By investing in education we can prepare students for better jobs. The more of those we have, the more revenues can expand- not because of higher tax rates but because of job growth. | |||

| I support incarceration as a means of separating predators from the rest of society. Alternatives to incarceration need to be backed up by consequences for failing to participate, or they have no teeth. Enforcing such consequences requires investment in drug treatment, mental health treatment, law enforcement, and the justice system. | |||

| Yes | g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes? | ||
| I support reforms to the cost of healthcare and healthcare insurance, and improving delivery and access to healthcare. I support the ACA and believe it was a major first step in addressing these issues. But other steps must be taken, including the ability to negotiate prices of prescription drugs; coming up with the nuances to make the laws work better for dentists and other kinds of providers as well as medical providers. There is still a lot of work to be done. A single payer system would make it unnecessary to require individuals to opt in. | |||

| Improve infrastructure, creating jobs that will expand tax revenue and help with funding. Increase funding for education, including a pre-K program and funds for Special Ed. Pay for it partly with oil and gas taxes. If gambling taxes and/or lottery revenue, originally intended to support education, now go into the general fund, they should be directed back to education. Guarantee public access to public lands, in part by rejecting moves to turn over federal lands to state control. |
